2006 Primary Schedule

This calendar includes primary dates for the 46 states that hold state legislative and/or gubernatorial elections this year. Voters in Mississippi and New Jersey elect congressional candidates on June 6; Virginia holds primaries for federal offices on June 13 and Louisiana has a congressional primary on Nov. 7, with runoff elections for those offices on Dec. 9, if necessary.

The seventh annual Hal Hovey Award was presented Feb. 3 to Marc Perrusquia, an enterprise and investigative reporter for The Commercial Appeal, the daily newspaper in Memphis Tenn. The award is made jointly by Stateline.org, which is part of the Pew Center on the States, and Governing Magazine for outstanding coverage of state and local government.
