A Colorado Constitutional Convention
By Kyle Henley, Special to Stateline.org

There are guidelines for calling a constitutional convention within the Colorado Constitution.
First, lawmakers would have to approve a bill calling for the convention with a two-thirds vote of both the House and Senate. The measure would send a referendum to voters, who would have to approve the convention.
If voters give the OK, two delegates would be picked from each of the state's 35 Senate districts. The constitution requires that the delegates be picked the same way senators are selected.
Delegates would meet in an actual constitutional convention and rewrite portions of the constitution.
The work of the convention would be referred to voters, who would have to give the changes final approval.
