Washington: Incumbent Christine Gregoire (D) defeats Dino Rossi (R), former state senator *Delaware Gov. Ruth Ann Minner (D) and North Carolina Gov. Mike Easley (D) are both term-limited, and Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt (R) is not running for re-election.

I just wanted to say that Anthony Pollina is an independent candidate for Governor of Vermont. He is polling at as much as 25% well ahead of Speaker Symington.

There are five state, I believe, electing chief state school officers this November. This group would be a welcome addtion to the excellent list.

 The seventh annual Hal Hovey Award was presented Feb. 3 to Marc Perrusquia, an enterprise and investigative reporter for The Commercial Appeal, the daily newspaper in Memphis Tenn. The award is made jointly by Stateline.org, which is part of the Pew Center on the States, and Governing Magazine for outstanding coverage of state and local government. |
